Our hips are storage units for so many emotions and experiences. They like to crawl way into the back and hide, to fester and age getting covered with dust, and blocking our free flowing energy. It takes a lot of intentional work to shake free these emotions and feelings, which have become burrowed so deeply, and addressing them is not always fun. That intensity you feel when you’re 2 minutes into a deep hip opening pose is your body shaking off the cobwebs and dust of those stored emotions.
I’ve been on a bit of a hip opening binge lately. Probably because Ive definitely been working through some personal things. Nothing crazy, just looking inward at how I can continue personal growth, which involves a lot of letting go and has lead me to crave lots of hip opening.
Hold these poses for a while. Enjoy the sensations that come up.

I’ve been really drawing my awareness to all of the pure blessings in my life, that sometimes I tend overlook.
A mobile, and free body.
A roof over my head, and food in my stomach.
Endless love and support from those around me.
The most epic group of humans I call my friends, but feel more like family.
My puppy, who gives me so much happiness and joy.
Sun on my face.
Music in my ears.
Freedom of speech.
Having a voice, and being able to use it.
The list could go on and on.
Recently, I’ve been working through some really heavy things, so when I do get days where I see nothing but light, I soak in every last inch.

Tbh Mr @sashbones snapping his leg has thrown the regular routine out the window and made for some routine juggling skills to be honed. (Love you 💋)
It has been a lil tricksy to re-routine but what a good lesson to learn to be okay and to be malleable for and when change happens!
My days of being nurse are peppered with finding little moments to cat my way on the mat. Currently exploring chest and hip relationships to each other; juggling them too and finding their balance with each other!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Feels good when you strike a sweet spot; give and take, push and pull.. mmmm.. 🐚🌴

Если задать вопрос телу и просто наблюдать, оно может очень неожиданно ответить. Может быть злость будет чувствоваться в правой голени? Психосоматика очень интересная штука, все наши эмоции и ощущения отражаются в теле и часто блокируются в нем. Вполне возможно, что, промассировав левое плечо, вспомнится давняя детская обида, подавленная и давно забытая.
Чувства и эмоции важно слышать и проживать и, самое главное, позволять себе чувствовать их все, а не только якобы "позитивные". Блокируя неугодные эмоции есть риск перестать ощущать что-либо вообще, поэтому нужно находить приемы выпуска всего, что проходит через тело и разум человека.

I am attending my very first yoga workshop this Thursday 😬 wish me luck! Got so used to just practicing yoga in my living room that I thought it’s time to get out, attend an actual yoga class and get taught by a real teacher 🙈 #livingroomyoga
Don’t simply focus on just stretching your body, focus on the feeling of the breath flowing through the spine, and slowly the body will accept the pose, slowly and gently.

Not being able to touch your toes in a forward fold doesn’t make you bad at yoga, me being able to almost touch my elbows in a forward fold doesn’t make me good at yoga - all it means is that you might have tighter hamstrings than me! Yoga is not measured by our physical flexibility or our physical strength, because there is no such thing as being good or bad at yoga. Yoga is a practice, it’s a daily ritual. So show up on your mat, show compassion and kindness towards others and especially towards yourself, breathe – that is yoga.

Two variations of a puppy pose, both open up the shoulders and chest, and help with the spine’s flexibility. One is a passive pose and the second one is an active pose. Neither is better than the other. Don’t focus on how advance your poses are in your practice but rather how they feel. Focus on being able to breathe in the pose and listen to your body, it’s your greatest teacher. I love both of these variations, but to be honest with you I do the first one way more often than the second one! What’s your favourite puppy pose? Do you use props sometimes, like a sofa or a wall??
