Early morning stroll in the amazing town of Riomaggiore
Four months ago in July, I had gotten my 15th tattoo of a mountain range on the back of my forearm. Little did I know it was also a foreshadowing of my life two months later when I started rock climbing. I remember the first time I stepped foot into a climbing gym, it was nearly two years ago when my best friend @shirleyy_wu took me to Dogpatch Boulders back in SF. I barely even tried and immediately gave it the death sentence thinking, "Nah, this isn't for me." But life works in such a funny way... I met my boyfriend @markfain (who is an avid climber) a few months ago and now I am hitting up a @touchstoneclimbing gym with him at least once if not twice a week! Anyways, this shot is from when we climbed out in @joshuatreenps two weekends ago and I wrote more about it over on the blog (link in bio). I am excited about this new found hobby of mine and I hope you will enjoy following my climbing journey with me! 🧗🏻♀️💪🏼

🇬🇧 It is amazingly impressive to see the steel Brooklyn Bridge close up, as it leads from the eponymous New York district to Manhattan. You have a very nice view of the bridge as you approach from the south along the Brooklyn Bridge East River. So you're best off right in the south of Brooklyn.

I've called myself a minimalist in the past, but realized this weekend I am so far from it. Jared and I spent our days moving from one room to another, sorting through our individual and collective accumulation of stuff. It was way more than I anticipated. During one of our donation trips to Goodwill, my heart sank as I saw our old belongings piled six-feet high on top of other's unwanted things. I'm not bummed about letting go of possessions, I was sad thinking about our throw-away society and how I've contributed to it through "out with the old, in with the new" type purchases. -
I'm viewing our move as a way to start fresh, to be more intentional about what I buy and where I buy it. Instead of just believing in the benefits of a #minimalist lifestyle, I actually want to work towards living it. I recently read that minimalism is less about the things you remove and more about the things you add. The potential of minimalism lies in what you choose to pursue with your life in place of material possessions. I choose to pursue adventure, truth, compassion, and gratitude. How about you? Challenge yourself to maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around you. Stay focused on your past successes rather than your past failures, and on the next action steps you need to take to get you closer to the fulfillment of your goals rather than all other distractions that life presents to you. At the end of the day, you are mainly responsible for your success. 🇦🇺
