Sometimes you’re taking beautiful pictures in nature, while in a remote place around the globe. Sometimes you’re sitting on your Porta Potti in your unfinished van, while sipping your favorite beverage. Best part about #vanlife? It’s all still so much fun. Well done, @sloanedoggg - we ❤️ you! #ExploreVanX#RealVanlife#Repost@sloanedoggg
The necessities of living in a van, toilet and fridge.
I said I wanted to keep it simple. •••
After coming back from the @womenontheroad gathering I’ve tried to get myself together and work on my van build. I have continued to walk into hardware stores and have panic attacks being so overwhelmed trying to teach myself new skills.
Many of you know I’ve been spending a lot of time with @divineontheroad and we have been talking a lot about life in general. With that being said I’ve started to talk with van builders to help me on my project. What I’ve realized is I’m in over my head, and quite frankly I’ve got a lot on my plate right now and trying to teach myself how to build a home isn’t necessarily something I have to spend my time doing. Yes every part of me would love to say I did a DIY van, but me trying to build a van all on my own is very daunting and truly causing me so much stress. Instead of being ashamed that I’m going to have my van built I’m going to relish in having a beautiful home that I design myself while allowing myself the time now to focus on things which truly need my attention. •••
As things come along I will be sure to take plenty of photos in the process.
Looking back on photos that were only taken a few days ago and I can now see how much progress we’ve made on Kevin already. Makes me so excited to see our progression by the end of the year! 6 weeks left of 2018, let’s make them the best ever 💪🏼🚌
We had just arrived to Portugal and as the first thing, we got stuck in sand right there. After lots and lots of shoveling we were embarassed enough to ask help from lovely fellow traveller @madickennyman
Even with help, we had to be creative with getting our van out of the deep pit we got ourselves. Finally when everything we could think of was in place, we made it!
We hope those @prosegurpt employees sitting in their car next to us had popcorn and some good time watching this two hour movie of us shoveling sand since they didn't bother helping us🍿
How nice it would be to tell you that we got away with only few bruises and dirty jeans, but no. We have now been stuck in Porto for over a week, waiting for new car parts to arrive so we could change them.
Let's keep fingers crossed that everything goes fine when the parts arrive!
TICKING JOBS OFF THE LIST
We’ve ticked so many jobs off the list today, and we’re feeling very prepared for the trip into Europe. We’ve weighed the van at the local tip, with a full tank and us both sitting in it (3.1 tonne - he’s a bit of a heavy lad!), and we’ve passed our MOT with flying colours. We’ve got our full European breakdown cover sorted and we’ve insured our belongings.
We’ve finally got nuts to put our spare tyre on the back of the van and we’ve purchased a jerrycan for diesel that we’re going to mount onto the back of the van. The silicone tyre weld is in the back of the van with the spare oil filter and drive belt, and we’ve got a full bottle of oil for topping up and changing on the road.
The best part of the day was getting brand new keys for the van - our old one used to fall out all the times, and we’d have to go searching through leaves to find it 😂 The jobs list has got a lot smaller, but there’s still some bits left to do! 8 days and counting!
? Wir sind dankbar für jede Idee!
Finally we're able to chill and cuddle with our rat boys in our new tiny home 💕
After converting 2x 🚐 for three and half months this feels so luxurios and earned! ✨
A pic from this beautiful food market in Tarifa. I love these kind of things, so beautiful made and filled with everything you can imagine. Greens, fish, meat, spices and bread 🍉🍑🥕🐟🦐🍗🌶🥖🍞🥐 we actually miss this lil' town a bit. Loved the vibe there, all the people, the old town with plenty of quirky shops and cafes! We'll definitely be back! 🏄❤️
