Taking a couple weeks off from running doesn’t mean being a slacker. It means crushing workouts at the gym! Got in some full body action, plus 20min hard on the stairs and a 10min cool down on the elliptical. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Finished it off with some stretching, foam rolling, and a delicious recovery shake: 8oz water, a few ice cubes, 2oz milk, dark cocoa, cinnamon, 1/2 a banana, and peanut butter protein powder! YUMMMMM!!!
Someone needs to explain to me why we are driving to school in ice and snow. But it is pretty nonetheless. Hopefully everyone in the DC area is staying safe and driving sensibly in this storm. Happy Winter!

Two morning runs in one week, say whaaaat?! 😬🌅🏃♀️
Basically I have plans to see the new Harry Potter movie after work tonight, which means if a run was happening today, it had to be early. What’s nice about today’s run is that I actually got to sleep in an extra 30 minutes because I’m working from home today! So that made it a little easier to get myself out of bed.
The sun was definitely coming up as I was running (thanks daylight savings) but it was still only in the lower 60’s. Not the 30’s and 40’s the weatherman promised us, but it’s way better than running in the high 80’s. I’m still waiting for that true cold front though! #FloridaProblems ❄️

It's been a rainy mess here all week and the fact that I haven't fallen on my ass while running yet is a small miracle. Still keeping things super easy out there, I'm sleeping in a little, and even skipped my Tuesday run this week after not sleeping well. I'm trying to enjoy this time and not take running too seriously through the holidays. I spent all year so far going from injury comeback to pre-training mileage build to training, so I'm taking these last two months to just relax and enjoy what I spent the year teaching my body to do.
This week's #longrun done with my toddler ✅ Avg pace 5:56/km Avg HR 140bpm. I set off to do about 10miles but finished a bit short of that today. It's ok though, as I always say...Stroller miles count as extra 😉😂🤣 I did my long run early this week because today is my husband's birthday but since he's at work all day, we'll celebrate again Saturday (my usual long run day) 🎂. There were a couple of challenges I expected when I decided to do this today 1) heavy legs from yesterday's hills and strength training and 2) my moody and unpredictable toddler 😂 Luckily this run went really smoothly!!! Toddler was happy as a clam the entire time (of course snacks were provided every few km's to maintain this happiness 😉) and my heavy legs were somewhat cooperative and didn't quit on me until the final km home from the playground 😂 There was nothing really impressive about this run pace-wise, but it was one of the happiest ones we've had in while 😊 Hope everyone is having a great week so far! 💞.

This was the first solo run that I’ve done in weeks, maybe months. Maybe, just maybe, the funk is finally lifting and I’m starting to feel OK again.
#trailthursday (is that a thing/can it be?! 🙏) 💛 Give me some trail shoes and a bit of mud any day (no cows though pretty please 🙏🐄) before this year, I had only ever plodded the pavements but @run_sallyrun introduced me the wonderful world of trail running - put on some trail shoes, take off your watch, pack some snacks and go and explore 💛

Não foi meu melhor tempo mas foi uma prova que me desafiou, que me fez perceber a importância dos treinos e de estar bem consigo mesmo. Mais uma vez provei que meu corpo aguenta mas preciso aprender a controlar a mente e a alimentação. Não é só corrida, não é só corpo, mente, alimentação ... é vida !🏃🏻♀️💪🏻☝🏻❤️
‘Run With Twists’. First gym session in a long while introducing running into the mix. Achilles much better but not 100%.
Today included 4.8 miles running; 100 Burpees; 100 KB Swings & 100 mixed Ab moves. I do enjoy writing stinkers for myself 😊
First mile used as warm up.
On today's run, I was encouraged by a fellow runner to keep going when I was considering walking the rest of the way!
It's amazing how just a little 'come on keep going, you got this' inspires you to keep going! 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️

Expectation vs reality....things don’t always go according to our plan.
I decided that I would take Jack on a jog with me this morning, which he did great on and he loved. His clumsy mom however, ended up taking a spill on the sidewalk...🤦🏻♀️😂
Jack came over after it happened and sat down beside me with the look of, “hi, mom, whatcha doing down here?”😂 I couldn’t help but laugh, and we continued on our jog. My distance wasn’t as far as I had originally wanted, but I’m not going to beat myself up over it.
