  • If you keep reminiscing on the ways they used to love you, and keep wishing things were still the same, you'll keep hurting yourself. You'll keep asking yourself why you can't let go and you'll keep overthinking every moment you once shared. If you start accepting the bad times and realize that person you once fell in love with doesn't feel the same anymore, you'll start to slowly let go. • Who’s seen the movie already? (Or plans on seeing it?) I’ll be seeing it hopefully tomorrow night! . This is one of the most thought-provoking books I read this year, and I had the pleasure of meeting @angiethomas at Yallfest. She is SO sweet and genuine and I love how she’s not afraid to ask hard questions or tackle hard topics. . #thehateUgive #angiethomas #booktomovie

. Wer von euch kennt Harari schon? . . #hörbuch #neuerscheinung #sachbuch #21jahrhundert #harari

  • 23/10/2018: My Reading tonight at mahi, (just kapi'd it, I'm pre-sent here again lol) and I have become more familiar with this Whānau of Kāri. It is special to think that when I'm in that Space, I am literally a hotline to my Nan and Koko hehe. 25: GOOD CHEER (Inverted) - "With kind heart and humour free, May good cheer rule so mote it be." This card was a bit spooky as it jumped out at me and spun itself upside down! I am so thankful that some Divine being above picked this for me as honestly whānau I struggle some days with sadness - I call these my "mentalhealthcaredays", and lately, I haven't been completely honest with myself! Being a Libran, I'm the type of person to sacrifice my own Mana in order to make other's happy... my practise now will be to say NO and be absolutely fine with that! I also think it presented itself to me so that I can allow good cheer, laughter, revelry and light-hearted sharing more often in my orangatanga! Whū, he nīti! 2. ABUNDACE - "Goddess of abundance divine, Let me thrive, let fortune be mine." Well funnily enough I was offered a long, (meaning overtime) shift tomorrow, I am thirsty for matauranga of which I have been receptive of, me and my partner have fused together to bring one another the World 😍 I am oh-so happy this is my present reading, it means I need to be sharp and ready! Heck yes lol, RAIN DOWN ON ME 🤑🦄🍀💞 14. FRIENDSHIP - "Bring to me friendship true, Sharing, laughter, understanding too." Next year I have a new arā ahead of me, and I am excited and Blessed to know that there will be good friendships out there in the world that I have yet to bond with. And these ain't just any frendz, I think my tūpuna are tellin me these are the sort of friendships like the ones I made with my Chichi-Boos at Hāto Höhepa Kāreti. Love itttt! . . . • Do you have a special place that calls to you? . I always feel at home when I get out and into nature. The ocean cliffs, the hills and the forest all bring me a sense of serenity that I associate with “home”. . My little pup has been poorly today, so we had to stay home to look after him. He’s been very cuddly and a bit sad (until he saw a cat and decided to chase it). Hopefully we’ll be able to get him checked out by a vet tomorrow.

  • Book #71 of 2018 was You Me Everything by Catherine Isaac. ☆ ☆ SYNOPSIS 'Jess and her ten-year-old son William set off to spend the summer at Château de Roussignol, deep in the rich, sunlit hills of the Dordogne. There, Jess’s ex-boyfriend and William’s father, Adam, runs a beautiful hotel in a restored castle. Jess is bowled over by what Adam has accomplished, but she’s in France for a much more urgent reason: to make Adam connect with his own son. Jess can’t allow Adam to let their son down because she is tormented by a secret of her own, one that nobody - especially William - must discover.' ☆ ☆ A perfect book for a bit of escapism. Set in the Dordogne Valley in France, the French countryside is an idyllic background to the story, if you've never been, this book will make you want to. I could relate to the characters and the relationship between Jess and her parents and also Jess and William was tender, heart warming and mixed with just the right amount of exasperation. All the characters, were flawed in some way making them believeable. the narrative was descriptive (cue much use of the word 'honeyed') and painted a beautiful picture of the French countryside. My only problem with the story was the overall believability, as a single Mum myself and having met several single parents in my lifetime, there aren't many of us who would be willing (or even able) to drive over to France for a free six week holiday with our ex of all people, regardless of how much we may have loved them in the past. The ending is predictable before you even start reading and the hideousness that is terminal illness in a loved one, though undoubtedly painful to Jess and her family, still doesn't stop this from basically being a modern day fairy tale. That said, I enjoyed it and William reminded me of my tech savvy son, down to the lack of football skill. Read if you enjoy a romance story with a little twist. 4/5🌟 ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ #mumsthewordoctober #youmeeverything #catherineisaac #simonandschuster #booksmakemehappy #booksofig #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookworm #bibliophile #ilovereading #bookaholic #bookish #bookishmum #read #reading #reader #booknerd

♥️🙏 . . #instajoga #instagirl #czechyogagirl #time #chakra #ritual #relax #reading #book #japamala #matchalatte #jogavsrdci #cakry #kniha #jogamimopodlozku #vnímejtečasjinak #zastavmese #okamziky #kezjsouvsechnybytostistastny #budmestastni #zivotjekrasny #zijmeho #namaste🙏

  • Orwell’s novels can be so dystopian, he even has an adjective to that effect for his name. Animal farm- an avant-garde political allegory was a book I’d studied in high school. The book, as Orwellian as a fable can get, is a retelling of the October Revolution and the subsequent rise of communism in the erstwhile USSR. Animal Farm satirises the actual events of the October Revolution in the guise of a revolution on a small farm in mid-England. The animals riled by the harsh treatment meted out to them, take over and kick out the humans. All the different animals symbolise the various classes of humans involved in the actual revolution- from the hard working, vulnerable masses of peasants (the horses), to the tyrannical aristocratic Tsars (the humans and later the pigs). What starts out as a revolution with noble intentions, soon falls back into its original lurid form- where the pigs over the course of the book start to look and act like the humans and the humans as the pigs, till there’s no difference in between. Read in the context of the October Revolution, the book is particularly poignant- as it reveal the very depths of depravity, manipulation and greed that accompany the quest for power. Orwell’s books often make me shudder, as they do for many others; but they always remind me how important it is to think, to act, and to fight for my rights.
