Nourlangie rock is one of my most favorite places in Kakadu Nationalpark. On our way up the hill we walked along an aboriginal art gallery and some traditional shelters. We enjoyed the journey through time while we studied the unique and well conserved aboriginal art. We got to know some very interesting Dreamtime stories and one of the Kakadu rangers informed us about how the way of living around this shelters was more than a thousand years ago. It’s was amazing to learn about the aboriginal culture and get to see all this art but the most amazing thing was to watch the sunset at nourlangie rock. The view is stunning and the atmosphere is for sure very very romantic and special. Thanks to Mother Nature for places like this! #nourlangierock#kakadutourism#kakadunationalpark#lookout#outdoors#followme#traveltheworld#travelphotography#aboriginalart#amazingview#placestovisit#brixtonhat#roadtrip
It was a HOT day when we took on the Nawurlandja Lookout which has views of Anbangbang Billabong, which we also walked around, and over to Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock) but well worth the climb. We also walked through Anbangbang with large rock overhangs which were shelters and ‘gallerys’ for the local tribes. #anbangbang#kakadu#nourlangierock#dokakadu
Today we spent half the day looking at rock art at Nourlangie at Jabiru. It's amazingly well preserved for the age and the stories behind each piece was so informative for the boys.
The walk wasn't hard but the incessant heat and flies still kept us slow going. The history in Kakadu is phenomenal. The shelters the ancestors lived in, the way they used art to teach and just their general living conditions.
