Marsyas bu korkunç işkence içinde can vermiş.

• For those of you that haven't gotten the chance to meet this man, I hope you do. Gosewisch and I go back to playing music in the shed days as kids. I never understood why we’d see him literally roll out of bed to do his push up routine but his self discipline has paid off. As long as I've known him, he has sought ways to improve himself, whether through expanding his mind, musical talents or physique, and all the while encouraging others to do the same. He's a loyal friend and I'm proud to see him using his passion. Get it bruh. #Repost @aegisstrength with @make_repost ・・・ The Aegis is the divine shield of Zeus blessed with the power of ultimate protection. • I spent a few hours a #austincentrallibrary today before enjoying a small coffee from #cookbookcafe I decided to give reading The Odyssey another shot but somehow managed to arrive home with three retellings, a biography, and a completely unrelated piece of classical Sanskrit literature. Because I don't know why. I did not manage to grab a translated version of the Odyssey in all of that. Oh well, next time. . . . . . . . . #Books #library #classicfiction #mythology #qigong #reading #readinglife

  • I special ordered this from a store some weeks ago and it just came in today. I have an entry about The Eight Immortals in a book I own on mythology. They are a Taoist tradition, generally revered in broader Chinese mythology today. The fascinating thing is that each Immortal has objects or flowers, animals or birds associated with them, which reminds me a bit of the Hindu pantheon. This is a shaped puzzle by Sunsout and kind of different, so I’m starting it tomorrow. #sunsoutpuzzle #shapedpuzzle #1000pieces #eightimmortals #mythology #taoism #chinesemythology #mahjongg

  • Illumination, art by Bryan Crowson. November 18, 2018. The goddess stands in the sky and tames the fury of the storm. She wields the lightning and wears its radiance as her crown, illuminating the night and illuminating minds with the power and beauty of science. This portrait is inspired by a Birmingham landmark, the statue of Electra called The Divinity of Light by sculptor Edward Field Sanford Jr., which has graced the top of the Alabama Power building since 1926. I must thank model Amber Coe Price, who is a stunning real-life doppelganger of the golden goddess. My thanks also go to my friend September Reed, who created the ornate crown that Amber is wearing. #art #portrait #goddess #DivineFeminine #mythology #myth #Electra #DivinityofLight #artmodel #figureart #coloredpencils @whimmmsy @artbybryancrowson @amber_price_22

  • Lord Shiva is the only ascetic among Gods, abstaining from all forms of indulgence and pleasure, concentrating rather on meditation as a means to find perfect happiness. He is the patron of Yogis, Sadhus and Brahmins, and also protector of the Vedas. Shiva choses a life of Sanyasi and Sadhana, life of meditation and hardships. He has a 'jata' or heap of matted hair that is typically considered to be a sign of uncleanliness. But when it comes to Lord Shiva, 'jatadhari' is a positive adjective. He is beyond such worldly ideas. His matted hair or 'jata' shows that He is beyond the standard definitions of beauty and holiness. Among some Sadhus and Sadhvis, locks are sacred, considered to be a religious practice, an expression of disregard for profane vanity. The public symbol of matted hair, known as jata, is re-created each time an individual goes through these unique experiences. About Shiva and his flowing locks, there is a continual interplay of extreme asceticism and virile potency, which link the elements of destruction and creation, whereas the full head of matted hair symbolizes the control of power. Gangadhara Shiva captures and controls the river Ganges with his locks, as its descent from the heavens would have deluged the world. The river is released through the locks of his hair, which prevents the river from destroying earth. As the Lord of Dance, Nataraja, Shiva performs the tandava, which is the dance in which the universe is created, maintained, and resolved. Shiva's long, matted tresses, usually piled up in a kind of pyramid, loosen during the dance and crash into the heavenly bodies, knocking them off course or destroying them utterly.! 🙏🏻✨✏️👁🐍💀⌛️🔱🕉📿🌀🌙🎨🐚🔔🌿🖌

  • @Regran_ed from @womenfromhistory - ~ The Horae of law and social order ~ In Greek mythology, Horae were the personification of time and seasons, but there was a variant. The other interpretation of Horae composed a second triad associated to Themis and Zeus for law and order. Diké ("Justice") was the goddess of moral justice: she ruled over human justice, as her mother Themis ruled over divine justice. The anthropomorphisation of Diké as an ever-young woman dwelling in the cities of men was so ancient and strong that in the 3rd century BCE Aratus asserted that she was born a mortal and that, though Zeus placed her on earth to keep mankind just, he quickly learned this was impossible and placed her next to him on Olympus, as the Greek astronomical/astrological constellation The Maiden. Eunomia ("Order", governance according to good laws) was the goddess of law and legislation. The same or a different goddess may have been a daughter of Hermes and Aphrodite. Eirene or Irene ("Peace") was the personification of peace and wealth, and was depicted in art as a beautiful young woman carrying a cornucopia, scepter and a torch or rhyton. Painting : Allegory of Peace and happiness of the state (showing Dike, Eunomia and, in the center, Eirene), by Jacob Jordaens 🎨 #horae #hora #peace #mythology #greekmythology #history #art #arthistory #historyofart #painting #artist #jacobjordaens #strongwomen #womenfromhistory - #regrann

  • Maui is an demi god in Hawaiian mythology. It is said that Maui owns a great fish hook called the Manaiakalani, which is baited with the wing of the pet bird🦅 of his mother, Hina. One day Maui convinced his brothers to take him out fishing🎣. He suddenly felt a great tug😱 and started reeling in frantically😖. To ensure a taut fishing line, Maui asked his brothers to paddle forward🚣‍♂️ as hard and as fast as they could. The ocean floor rose😨 behind them showing the peaks of mountains⛰ and valleys - Maui's hook caught onto the ocean floor 😅. Exhausted😞, and curious🤔, the brothers looked back to see what the catch was and the line went slack and broke😑. The ocean floor failed to rise as one piece of land🙄. The islands🏝 formed are known to be the Hawaiian archipelago😊. . . #maui #mauithedemigod #hawaii #hawaiinmythology #mythology #creationmyth #hawaiianarchipelago #fishing #magichook #manaiakalani

  • 🇬🇧A Letter to Emperor Heraclius: Khosrow, greatest of Gods, and master of the earth, to Heraclius, his vile and insensate slave. Why do you still refuse to submit to our rule, and call yourself a king? Have I not destroyed the Greeks? You say that you trust in your God. Why has he not delivered out of my hand CAESAREA, JERUSALEM, and ALEXANDRIA? And shall I not also destroy CONSTANTINOPLE? But I will pardon your faults if you submit to me, and come hither with your wife and children; and I will give you lands, vineyards, and olive groves, and look upon you with a kindly aspect. Do not deceive yourself with vain hope in that Christ, who was not able to save himself from the Jews, who killed him by nailing him to a cross. Even if you take refuge in the depths of the sea, I will stretch out my hand and take you, whether you will or no.
