  • Vote for Kata Tjuta, NT for the 7 Wonders of Australia: Lesser-known than their more famed sister rock formation nearby yet no less visually striking in their own right, the enormous red-rock domes of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) lie relatively close to Uluru yet are different and impressive in a number of notable ways. . Rather than one single monolith, Kata Tjuta (which means “many heads” in the local Aboriginal vernacular) consists of 36 individual “domes” of varying sizes – the highest of which is truly enormous and clocks in at nearly 200m higher than Uluru itself. Formed over the course of around 500 million years’ worth of weathering, the resulting topography is a mish-mash of colourful rocks meeting old gum trees, and natural pathways and side tracks which wind their way between the massive formations. . While gradually growing in international fame, Kata Tjuta remains something of an underrated gem in Northern Territory tourism, with fewer tours and overall visitor numbers dedicating time to visits. This is despite Kata Tjuta’s massive domes providing an even greater sense of scale, and its “cut-up” nature making exploring its innards a far more viable (and less culturally-sensitive) option than climbing Uluru. . Cast your vote for Kata Tjuta online (link in bio), text/SMS the code KJ to 19 719 777, or vote via Instagram using the hashtags #7wondersofaustralia and #katatjuta for the chance to win one of 7 epic trips to visit your voted Wonder of Australia! . @ausoutbacknt @seeuluru @visitcentralaus @emurunexperience

  • Deep down in the Valley of the Winds. There were a few times I had to stop and turn around. The view was incredible but I must say, I'm glad I went to Karingara Lookout first because the opposite way probably would have taken way more energy out of me. I will admit, it probably too me about 5 minutes to actually catch my breath and enjoy that view from the top. But it was oh so totally worth it. Another thing I kept my eyes out for was snakes 🐍 yup, totally not a fan and it was the perfect weather for them to be out sun baking. I'm just glad I didn't come across any! What wildlife do you keep your eye out on when you're out exploring nature? . . . . #valleyofthewinds #exploreuluru #teamkaptainkenny #ausoutbacknt #cuinthent

  • Classic selfie with the beautiful Olgas behind me. What you don't see here is the amount of flies hanging around. I'm shocked I actually got a photo without my hands waving the flies away 🤣 On our hike around Uluru, I believe I had about 20 odd flies catching a ride on my backpack. . . . . #teamkaptainkenny #exploreuluru #sheisnotlost #ausoutbacknt #womenwhoexplore

  • 'What. A. View.' I said to myself as I scrambled up the uneven stairs. There was no turning back now. I had managed to walk up one of the steepest parts of a hike in my life and wasn't going to stop! The view greeted us on the 2nd look out, Karingana, the better of the 2 and I was just blown away and captivated by its beauty! What is the one place you've hiked and has left you admiring it more than you thought you could? Some of the parks I want to see are Banff, Zion, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon just to name a few. . . . . #teamkaptainkenny #seeaustralia #valleyofthewinds #ausoutbacknt #traveldeeper

  • I did it! I managed the rough track through the Valley of the Winds trek at Kata Tjuta. Approx 4 hours long and a grade 4 hike. We smashed it in 3 hours! I will admit, there were some parts where I found it difficult to breath but I pushed through it. This photo was captured at the end of the victory lap! If you're planning on a trip to Uluru, add this hike to your list! And bring plenty of water. If the temperatures pass 36 °, they close the tracks at 11am so be sure to start early! . . . . #valleyofthewinds #seeaustralia #teamkaptainkenny #exploringaus #explorerbabes
