Glendalough - County Wicklow - 23/3/18
Glendalough is a glacial valley formed during the last ice age. It is most well known for a monastic settlement which dates back to the 6th century.
The Book of Glendalough was written there around 1131. The manuscript is one of three to have been produced in pre-Norman Ireland. Also known as Rawlinson B 502, the book currently resides in the Boolean Library, Oxford.
However, there is still debate as to whether Rawlinson B 502 is actually the Book of Glendalough.
Lough Ennell - County Westmeath - 6/3/18
One of three types of swan found in Ireland, the Mute Swan is the only one found all year round. Though called mute, they aren’t entirely silent - they make a raspy hissing noise when agitated.
Located in the Cathedral Quarter, Commercial Court is a tiny cobbled alleyway, that was once in the heart of the #belfast commercial area. The old pottery, whiskey merchants & iron foundry that once called this area home, have given way to some iconic pubs.

The #blarneycastle was originally constructed in 1210, with the current structure completed in 1446. A draw to the castle is the Stone of Eloquence, or its more commonly known name #blarneystone. It’s said if you hang upside down over a sheer drop & kiss the stone you’ll be given the gift of eloquence. Another, draw are the vast gardens surrounding the castle.
