Happy sunday from my home to yours. A mini flower garden at our table this week. So happy to find zinnia’s in the most gorgeous soft pink colours. Together with roses, dahlia’s, delphinium, cosmosflowers and very special toad Lily. First tulips and chrysanthemum of the season. The first cold and grey skies with plenty of rain outside. Bright colours and warmth inside. Have a wonderful sunday and a bright colourful new week everyone.

Rainy sunday in Amsterdam. It has been raining for the past few days actually. I always feel sorry for visitors when here, only a few days to enjoy our city, when it keeps on raining. Photo opportunities plenty inbetween showers. Rain or sunshine would you believe me when I said Amsterdam never really loses its charm?
Have a lovely sunday and a beautiful new week everyone. Sending you a postcard from Amsterdam, signing it with love. Hope the sun is out on your side. Up next my sundayflowers.

Cycling through the city just now on my way to an appointment, when I saw someones gardener carrying vine branches into his truck. I kept on cycling because I was already late but then I knew this moment may not come back. What are the odds of me being so close to these leaves again? Hand on my brakes and turning back. Waited for the gardener to come out again of one of the most stunning canalhouses of Amsterdam. I asked if he was going to toss them away. Yes he said. Would he mind if I would cut some off? He was quite suprised by my question and the look on my face. Holding the branches with utter happiness. He had no idea how happy he made me. I arrived late at my appointment. Lots of apologies, hair out of place because of the strongest winds today and with this enormous branch that was tucked away only a bit in an old plastic bag. But with the most happy and content feeling.
What might be waste to someone else could be gold for another. It is so wonderful for me to have these leaves, climbing swirls and all, in front of me.
Sugar flowers, friday flowerday. These white tones I’m working with at the moment. I can’t wait to add some swirls.
Have a lovely friday and great weekend everyone.

Royal within you.”

It's the third tuesday in September. An official day in the Netherlands. "Prinsjesdag" Opening of the dutch Parliament in the Hague. It translates "little prince day". We have two official days for the Monarchy in Holland, "Kingsday" (the kings birthday) and "Prinsjesdag". Our King reads a speech (mostly written by the prime-minister) seated on his throne next to his wife Queen Maxima in a joint session of the dutch senate and house of representitives. Broadcasted on tv. Everyone always anxious to see Queen Máxima’s dress. It always quite a spectacle of ceremonies and traditions. Just like every year there were no incidents today. I will never forget though a special incident in 2001. It was the week after 9-11. Normally the orchestra playing but this time music was not to be played during the Royal Tour. When passing the American Embassy The Golden Carriage drawn by horses and servants in uniform with our then Queen Beatrix stood still for a few moments to pay respect in front of the American Embassy. This was highly unusual because protocol states that a monarch should never have to wait.
Hope your week had a good start. Sending you love and tulips from Amsterdam. #tuliptuesday#houseoforange#prinsjesdag#goudenkoets#glazenkoets#dutch#tbt#currentmood

Happy sunday from my home to yours. In case you ever wondered why these flowers are shown with a black background, I have posted a photo in my instastories.
Our kitchentable and large blackboard wall. When I sit at my favorite spot this is actually how I always enjoy them.
Thank you for your kindness always on these real flowers sunday posts. It is my absolute pleasure to share and sent these slices of my life. That blackboard wall one of the most important features in our house. It functions as a calender. Every meeting or appointment visible (for everyone) to see. If it is not on the board and there is a problem. Well.. Lets just say it is always an absolute discussion ender.
Always one larger arrangement with smaller vases. The small vases giving me just as much happiness as the large ones. Especially while having dinner with candles. Another in case you wondered, yes... there is one sugarflower in this pic.
Have a lovely sunday and a beautiful new week everyone. I hope your agenda gives you a lot to look forward to!

Fall with summer temperatures. The sun shining on the canals giving us sparkles in the water. These old facades and boathouses. The house far on the right dated 1723. When cycling it sometimes feels like driving through a theater decor. Never a dull moment when living in these spaces. Have a lovely sunday and beautiful new week everyone. Up next my sunday flowers. Sending you my love from Amsterdam.

Sugar lily of the valley
“If you grow in love,
You grow in awareness,
If you grow in awareness,
You grow in love.”
Volunteering at school in my sons classroom this morning. Awareness class. A special program where this time a mother with three children from wich two with special needs told her story. What is it like to have a (mental) disability? After the talk in the classroom they had to go outside and experience what it is like to have a disability. Choosing a mate and then in pairs one had to be blindfolded. The other child then had to feed yoghurt, guide his friend through the play ground or push the one without sight sitting in a wheelchair.
They had to let go of fear, trusting their friend helping throughout.
The mother teaching this class said that up until the moment she actually sat in her daughters wheelchair one day, blindfolded, she never really understood what it was like for her. This was the moment she came up with the idea to teach others.
It wasn’t just an eye opening morning for all the 8yr/ 9yr olds. I learned so much.
A blindfold handed out to everyone in the end.
Lily of the valley. Happy to create this May flower in September. It stands for good health, luck in love and return in happiness. Happy friday and a great weekend everyone wishing you lots of luck in health, love and happiness.

“The cosmos is all that is,
Or ever was,
Or ever will be.”
Always eight petals, Cosmos flowers. The infinity number. One of my favorite flowers to recreate. No limits in every sense.
Unlimited love and imagination.
Wishing you a beautiful day.

Sunday flowers I happily left behind at home for a few hours. Spending time with our children and friends in the dutch countryside. End of summer love in a vase. Roses, delphinium, hydrangeas, zinnias, cosmosflowers, dahlias and dill. A riot of flowers and colours. Wishing everyone a wonderful happy new week.

Bright greens with the first hint of yellow. Fall setting in bit by bit each day. Soon these trees will lose their leaves and we can see the facades of canalhouses again. Always grateful for all the green that surrounds us in Amsterdam.
Our Westerchurch in the back ringing its bells. The Anne Frank House next to it. History and stories always close.
Leaving the city today. Off to the countryside. Friends living in a cottage with a pond with small fish where our children can swim. It is fun to let your children grow up in a city like Amsterdam but these friends are considered friends in high places for sure.
Sending you a postcard from Amsterdam with love. Up next my sundayflowers. Have a lovely sunday a beautiful new week everyone.
